Onças do Iguaçu Project

One of Eco Park Foz's main objectives is to contribute to projects that promote biodiversity conservation. One of these projects is Onças do Iguaçu, which supports vulnerable big cats and seeks the coexistence and conservation of the jaguar, a key species for biodiversity. The project promotes various initiatives that educate society on how to coexist harmoniously with these animals.

The Onças do Iguaçu action plan is focused on protecting jaguars and their habitats in the Iguaçu National Park (PNI) and adjacent areas. Among the main actions are:

Reduce road kill and hunting of wild animals.
Increase the availability of prey for cats.
Protect and restore natural areas, creating ecological corridors.
Prevent the transmission of diseases to cats.
Minimize attacks on domestic animals and encourage coexistence with local communities.
Strengthen society's connection with jaguars and the PNI, promoting appreciation of the species.

In addition, the project generates information that supports strategic decisions and shares knowledge in an accessible way, increasing the positive impact on conservation.

Eco Park Foz directly supports the project, helping it to continue working to rescue and protect these animals, which are fundamental to the balance of ecosystems. Some of the actions carried out include:

Production of an educational book on responsible dog ownership.
Financing batteries for trap cameras used to monitor jaguars.
Acquisition of furniture for the "Toca da Onça", the project's base in the Iguaçu National Park.
Construction of the first chicken coop for the "Ciscando o Futuro" project, which protects a property from jaguar attacks.
Donation of sheep and horses to replace predated animals, compensating rural landowners.
Sale of "Amigurumis" in the Eco Park Foz shop. This initiative provides a source of income for the local community and promotes jaguar conservation.
