On July 26, 2025, Eco Park Foz received a special visit from the team from National Geographic's Photo Ark project to photograph the endangered white-nosed cuxiú, a species of monkey endemic to the Amazon fauna.
The initiative, led by renowned photographer Joel Sartore, aims to document species living in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries around the world, reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation.
The white-nosed cuxiu is classified as Vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. Eco Park Foz is currently one of the only institutions to house this species under human care, playing an essential role in conservation.
The white-nosed cuxiú lives in the first and only primate immersion nursery in the country: the Primate Forest inside the park, and you can observe this and other species of monkeys up close.
"Welcoming photographer Joel Sartore and the National Geographic team was an honor for all of us. A young park, only two and a half years old, opening its doors to the world," said Leandro Mautone, partner-owner of Eco Park Foz.
