Eco Park, a place for raising awareness and caring for birds, animals and the Atlantic Forest, in Foz do Iguaçu, now offers visitors the option of following the routine of a falconer.
The professional who uses falconry techniques to rehabilitate birds of prey, especially those that have suffered from human impacts.
The activities begin first thing in the morning when the falconer visits the enclosures to check the birds' physical and psychological condition, then moves on to feeding, weighing and conditioning the eagles, owls, hawks and falcons.
This visit also includes a guided tour to see the technical areas and all the park's logistics. This includes the Mini Farm, which today has llamas, mini pigs, giant rabbits, goats, ostriches, cows, goats and more. There is also a tour of the "Bird Immersion" aviary with more than 50 species of birds, including two macaws. The horse stable is another space open to visitors.
The falconer's day ends after the presentation of the birds of prey, the most awaited moment for the falconer's assistant and also for the public visiting the Eco Park.
"Our aim with this tour is to introduce visitors to all the work carried out at the Eco Park. To show that before the birds are presented, there is special care taken with the animals," said falconer Bruno Nogueira.
That was the impression of Artur Prado, who had his day as a falconer alongside his father, Claudio. "It was an unforgettable experience. It was very interesting to learn about the animals' routine and how they are treated. I even fed the owl and the vulture," he said.
