Eco Park's souvenir store is more than just a place for visitors to buy souvenirs from Foz do Iguaçu and the region. The store pays homage to domestic animals and Brazilian fauna, all in keeping with the institution's purpose and work.
There are macaws, horses, owls, hawks, vultures, sheep, capybaras, anteaters, rabbits, monkeys and stuffed raccoons. Among them are also mini jaguars made of thread, called amigurumis, produced by the "Crocheteiras do Iguaçu", a social project whose aim is to empower women from around the Iguaçu National Park by generating alternative income, combining crochet with jaguar conservation.
Part of the proceeds from the sale of these products goes to the Onças do Iguaçu project, of which Eco Park is one of the sponsors.
Eco Park is also the official supplier of the batteries for the camera traps used to record the jaguars' routine in the Iguaçu National Park and carry out a population census of the felines.
According to Igor Morais, Eco Park's Institutional Coordinator, the institution has been a partner in the project for over a year because it believes it is necessary to sustainably balance the health of people, domestic animals and local wildlife. This is in line with Eco Park's purpose of telling the story and strengthening humanity's relationship with animals.
In 2023, as part of the "Scratching for the Future" program, he built a jaguar-proof chicken coop on a property in Matelândia and sponsored the publication of the book "Caring for the Dogs and Jaguars of Iguaçu".
The Eco Park
The tour of the Eco Park includes a visit to the little farm, where you can feed the animals and an immersion nursery that has been a new home for birds and reptiles that have suffered at human hands due to mistreatment.
You can also watch exercise demonstrations by the Creole horse, a typical Brazilian breed, and the flight of the birds of prey, the only one of its kind in South America so far. The flight of the birds of prey takes place every day at 10.30am and 4pm.
Between these times there are pedal boat rides on the Anta Lagoon.
Tickets can be purchased on the website: www.dreamsecopark.com.br. The park is open from 9am to 5pm.
