Dreams Eco Park and Onças do Iguaçu signed a cooperation agreement this week to develop animal conservation projects in the municipalities bordering the Iguaçu National Park (PNI).
The partnership begins with the construction of the first chicken coop for the Ciscando o Futuro project in Matelândia. The aim is to add value to the production of eggs and free-range chickens on rural properties bordering the park. To this end, large enclosures will be built to allow the birds to live in a semi-open system.
At the same time, improving the quality of the eggs they produce will increase their families' income.
"A jaguar attacked birds on this property. As a way of providing security for the animals and a source of income for this family, we're going to build the chicken coop," explained Yara Barros. In addition to the enclosure, the property will receive 20 breeding hens.
"We're very happy with this joint effort, because Onças Iguaçu is a benchmark for caring for animals and nature," explained Dreams Eco Park's technical manager, Stacy Wu.
After the chicken coop, Dreams Eco Park will sponsor the construction of kennels to house dogs at night on vulnerable properties and thus prevent jaguars from preying on them. And it has committed to installing information signs about the cats in its visitor areas. "A jaguar that has a friend has everything. Our jaguars are grateful for this support," said Yara.
Iguassu Jaguars
Onças do Iguaçu is an ICMBio institutional project, developed in partnership with the Pro Carnivores Institute and the Iguaçu National Park.
The mission is to conserve the jaguar as a key biodiversity species in the park. The project develops actions in three main areas: research, engagement and coexistence.
Man and nature
Dreams Eco Park is a space for raising awareness and caring for birds, animals and the Atlantic rainforest. The main focus is to tell the story of man's relationship with animals through animal conditioning demonstrations, controlled interactions between visitors and the species under their care and artistic exhibitions.
The park is open daily from 9am to 5:30pm. The Criollo Horse and Birds of Prey presentations take place at two times, in the morning at 10am and in the afternoon at 3.30pm.
Between 9 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., you can visit the Mini Farm, which has cows, sheep, rams, llamas, ostriches, mini pigs, giant rabbits, mini goats, among other animals that were important for the formation of societies.
Another experience is the "Bird Immersion" aviary. There are more than 50 birds from the Atlantic Forest in a huge vivarium where visitors can observe and learn about their routine. All of them arrived at the ecological park as a result of rescue actions, either due to mistreatment or trafficking in wild animals.
Where we are
Dreams Eco Park is located next to the Dreams Park Show in Foz do Iguaçu, where you'll find the Wax Museum, Wonders of the World, Dinosaur Valley, Ice Bar and the Dreams Motor Show.
