The Onças do Iguaçu Project carries out essential work monitoring, researching, and conserving jaguars in the Foz do Iguaçu region, and Eco Park Foz has supported the project since 2023 by providing materials and equipment used to monitor jaguars in the wild. The partnership reinforces support for projects such as "Ciscando o Futuro" (Scratching the Future), which helps small farmers build chicken coops, thus preventing jaguar attacks on poultry.
Eco Park Foz and the Iguaçu Jaguars Project have joined forces in yet another initiative that brings the community closer to the conservation of regional wildlife. A new jaguar was recently spotted in Iguaçu National Park, reinforcing the importance of conservation efforts in the Atlantic Forest in Foz do Iguaçu.
The young male was first identified in December 2025 using camera traps set up by the project team, which has been tracking his movements ever since. Now, the initiative is entering a new phase: naming this important symbol of our fauna.
After an internal vote among Eco Park Foz employees, two names were selected for the final stage:
- Cauã, which means hawk; symbol of sharp vision and power.
- Tekó, representing balance and way of life.

The decision now passes into the hands of the public, which can be done in two ways:
- In the official post on Eco Park Foz's social media (@ecoparkfoz), in collaboration with the Onças do Iguaçu Project ( @oncasdoiguacu);
- In person, at Eco Park Foz itself, where there will be a space reserved for visitors to choose the name during the tour.
Eco Park Foz invites everyone to visit the park, enjoy a stroll surrounded by nature, and also participate in choosing a name for this new jaguar, which will be open for voting until February 13 (Friday).
The result of the chosen name will be revealed at a special event at Eco Park Foz on February 14 (Saturday), starting at 2 p.m., held in partnership with the Onças do Iguaçu Project. On this occasion, visitors will be able to follow an educational exhibition on the trail about jaguars and participate in a moment of celebration of this important partnership for conservation.
