Eco Park Foz will have Brazil's first monkey immersion enclosure

On January 11, Eco Park Foz will open to the public the first monkey immersion enclosure in Brazil. The Primate Forest will be one of the new activities at Eco Park Foz, a space for connecting with nature and animals.

With an area of 5,500 square meters surrounded by trees, lakes and trails, the Primate Forest will be home to howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys and night monkeys, sharing space with American water tigers, Brazilian water tigers, mandarin teals, Chilean flamingos, toco toucans and deer. As well as cuxiús, agoutis, pacas, sloths, hedgehogs, jabutis and other species of land birds.

Man and animal

According to the founding partner of Eco Park Foz, Leandro Mautone, the Primate Forest will be a unique ecosystem in Brazil.

The entire enclosure has been designed and built to be safe, enriching and similar to the natural habitat so that various native species can live together, as well as providing a moment of environmental learning for adults and children who visit the nursery.

"It's a giant enclosure where animals and humans will be connected. A true immersion with nature and the first experience in the country with these characteristics."

According to Mautone, Eco Park Foz - inaugurated two years ago and visited by people from all over Brazil and the world - with the Primate Forest the park officially achieves its mission: to tell the story of the relationship between humans and animals.

"Since we opened, our aim has been to value biodiversity and promote environmental awareness and education, which is why we offer visitors the chance to interact with and learn about the routine of dozens of wild animals. Now, it's like completing the cycle of life".

Adaptation

Although the official opening is on the 11th, once a day the veterinarians and biologists are taking some tourists on guided tours to analyze the animals' behavior. "We're working with wildlife and humans. Everything requires a lot of attention and care. It's a period of adaptation," he explained.

Eco Park Foz

Until then, visitors can enjoy the more than 30,000 square meters of Eco Park Foz. There are various activities, including feeding giant rabbits, mini pigs, cows, calves and guinea pigs.

Children and adults can visit a huge aviary with dozens of species rescued from mistreatment, including parakeets, parrots, tortoises and turtles. They can also take part in the Owl Moment to learn about the history and habits of this animal full of symbolism.

There is plenty of excitement in the arena, where birds of prey fly and horses come into contact with each other. For visitors, there is still plenty of space to walk barefoot, rest and picnic.

To top it all off, there are playgrounds and a lake where you can go pedal boating and meet the capybaras.

Near the Falls

Eco Park Foz is open from 9am to 5pm. It is located at Rua Cruz Alta, 111, behind the Dreams Park Show Complex on the Cataratas Highway and very close to the Iguaçu National Park Visitor Center. Residents of Foz do Iguaçu and the surrounding area pay a reduced rate.
