Eco Park Foz has prepared a special program to celebrate summer in a different way: with Summer Environmental Enrichment, offering frozen fruit to the animals at times accompanied by the public. The event will take place next Friday, January 23, and invites visitors of all ages to experience an educational activity full of curiosities up close.
Environmental enrichment is a practice focused on animal welfare, which encourages natural behaviors and keeps animals more active and curious through challenges and novelties in their routine. In this summer edition, frozen fruits help to refresh, occupy, and entertain animals in a safe and fun way.
The program takes place at three locations in the park throughout the day:
10 a.m. – Little Farm
The perfect time to watch domestic animals interacting with enrichment and learn more about their routine.
2 p.m. – Primate Forest
A unique opportunity to observe how primates explore, investigate, and feed, with lots of interaction and natural behavior.
3 p.m. – Capybara Lake
The public will be able to see the capybaras enjoying their enrichment activities in one of the most beloved areas of Eco Park Foz.
Environmental enrichment activities are carried out regularly here at Eco Park. During hot periods, we take the opportunity to offer the animals "popsicles," a type of food and sensory enrichment that stimulates their perception of different textures, temperatures, and flavors. The enrichment activities are prepared with foods that are already part of each animal's diet and may include, in a controlled manner, a different fruit, always appropriate for the consumption of each species. These activities are important because they help break the routine, stimulate behavior, and offer an extra form of distraction, promoting the physical and mental well-being of the animals," commented Sara Sant'ana, Zootechnician at Eco Park Foz.
In addition to watching the environmental enrichment on Friday, it is the perfect invitation to enjoy the full tour at Eco Park Foz, for the whole family, contact with nature, and educational experiences throughout the day, such as the daily schedule:
Owl Moment at 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Ecoelho at 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Falconry – Birds of Prey Flight Activity at 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Cow brushing at 1pm. Goat feeding – 2pm and Guided tour of the Primate Forest – Mon to Fri from 11am to 12pm.
