Vacations: Children and adults connect with nature at Eco Park

Eco Park, an area in Foz do Iguaçu designed to tell the story of the relationship between humans and animals, has been an option for adults and children to connect with nature this summer vacation.

In the first few days of the year alone, the unit welcomed hundreds of families interested in learning about the habits and history of the animals that live on the little farm. Visitors were also able to take part in environmental enrichment activities, such as feeding the rabbits and guinea pigs.

The public had the opportunity to meet Natalina, a mini goat who was born on December 31st. She is the daughter of Petruquio and Catarina, a couple of mini goats who live at the Eco Park. At the end of the tour of the little farm, the families took the opportunity to visit the "Bird Immersion" aviary, where there are several species of birds that arrived at the unit after being rescued from wildlife trafficking and mistreatment.

Birds of prey

To complete the connection and immersion in the history of the animals, the families watched the presentation of the Crioulo horse, a typical breed from Rio Grande do Sul, and the flight of the birds of prey, which take place at two times: 10am and 3.30pm.

The presentation of the Horse takes us on a tour of the history of South America and the Border through the origins of the Creole breed. Accompanying the colonization process in the 16th century came the horses, which spread across the pampas of Rio Grande do Sul, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile and Peru.

The bird flight is a time for education and learning about the protection and rehabilitation of birds of prey that have been taken in.

Eco Park's team of biologists rehabilitates the birds for flight and their natural behaviors, leading them to live a life in accordance with the biology of each species and stimulating positive levels of well-being. In the presentation, you can watch the birds fly in search of food and learn about the origins of the art of raptor conditioning and its historical importance in the development of society and bird conservation.

Can you take it home?

Graziela, Eduardo and their 2-year-old daughter Sofia Damin took the day off to visit Eco Park and interact with the animals. "We had heard that the experience in the park was very good. We came to find out. Sofia fell in love with the rabbits and the little cow. She wanted to take them home," said her mother.

The Gaspar family came from Paraguay to connect with the animals at the Eco Park. "Maria Olívia has loved animals since she was little. She was delighted to be able to feed the bunnies," said Felipe.
